Assistant Professor of Psychology - HigherEdJobs

Emmanuel College is a coed 17-acre residential college of liberal arts and sciences right in the city of Boston. In the Catholic academic
tradition, we challenge our students and faculty to be driven in their pursuit of learning and teaching. We mine the rich resources of
science and healthcare around us, and build gateways to that world on campus. Emmanuel enriches lives through powerful real world
experiences, from service learning to internships. We believe education empowers people. It transforms their lives. And it opens
doors.

The Psychology Department at Emmanuel College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in the Fall of 2013. Candidates should be able to teach a range of psychology courses such as General Psychology, Research Methods, and Theories of Personality. Area of specialty is open, although we encourage candidates conducting multicultural research to apply. Faculty are expected to involve undergraduate students in an active research program. Rank will be based upon experience.

Emmanuel College's Psychology Department offers a rigorous, learner-centered academic program that provides a strong foundation in the broad discipline of psychology, advances the science of psychology through faculty and student scholarship, and serves the community through the practice of psychology. As one of the largest majors in the College, the Psychology Program is distinctive in its emphasis on research and applied experience, requiring multiple research-based courses and a full-year senior capstone of rigorous clinical and/or research experience. The development of essential knowledge and skills prepares students to meet their varied graduate and professional goals.

Candidates must have previous teaching experience, as the course instructor, at the undergraduate level and have a Ph.D. at time of appointment. Previous experience mentoring undergraduate students is preferred.

Emmanuel College seeks to create a working and learning environment that reflect the society and community in which we are located, and we actively encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
