If you've always wanted to create a YouTube channel and you have a Google+ account, now you can use your profile to upload videos and share them with those in your Circles.

YouTube blogged about the change recently, which allows the use of a Google+ profile name and photo on a new YouTube channel, "giving you one consistent identity across platforms when uploading videos, sharing, commenting and other public activities."?

Right now on Google+, YouTube has a presence as another tool friends can share videos in Hangout. You can also watch playlists of videos based on search terms using the YouTube slider that shows up on the right side of your G+ Stream page. G+ also shows up as a option under the "Share" button under videos.?

Currently, if you had a YouTube account before you got on Google+ and you use the same Gmail account for both, it doesn't look like you can swap out your existing YouTube identity for the real one that's on Google+. But, if you want to change your new YouTube channel under a username different from your G+ identity, you can.?

For some people, it may come as a relief that there's still a dividing line between who they are on YouTube publicly and what they choose to share on G+. For instance, I've turned off my viewing history, but if they look me up under my Feed tab, within my channel, do I really want people to know I get into stretches where I must re-live the musical scenes from "Grey's Anatomy"??

While in YouTube, you can share the video on your G+ page, and you can also start a hangout under the "Share" button if there's a particular video you can't wait to try to make viral amongst your Circles. (For those of us who don't want to work to look presentable for Hangouts, sharing videos with friends in that environment isn't appealing, nor the best way to make the most out of busy lives.)

Suffice it to say, if you're still using Google+ you've probably noticed that it hasn't exactly had an expansive feature set for organizing photo albums. According to Isaac Sparrow, a self-described "engineer on the Google+ Photos team," a great number of folks have expressed the desire for better functionality in this area. Thankfully, in response, he also announced some a quartet of features that have just been set live on the site to help you keep your candids in check. Within the Options menus of your albums you'll now find an Organize tab which'll let you select and delete a multiple images, move and copy them to other albums and resort them by date or any order you choose. Sure, it's far from the likes of Facebook's Timeline, but we'd imagine anyone with backlog of photos on the site will surely appreciate the new digs. DES PLAINES, IL, March 13, 2012 ? The Laser Institute of America (LIA), ?in conjunction with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Alliance partner and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) invites communities, businesses and individuals to support North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week this May 6-12 in an effort to enhance workplace safety. The annual NAOSH Week and the May 9, 2012, Occupational Safety and Health Professional (OSHP) Day aim to raise awareness about the importance of being safe at work. Its 2012 theme is ?Safety: What Every Business Needs? will focus on providing small and mid-size businesses with key workplace safety resources.

?In addition to reaching out to the public and businesses on how to stay safe at work, we are making an extra effort to reach out to small and mid-size businesses with safety and health resources to help enable them to develop and implement occupational safety and health programs as well as assist in enhancing their existing safety programs,? ASSE President Terrie S. Norris, CSP, ARM, said today. ?Small businesses play a vitally important role in advancing our economy and provide employment for more than half of America?s workers.? Yet, for the typical small business owners, addressing safety and health risks in their workplaces is often difficult.?

Companies with between 50 and 249 employees have the highest rate of job-related injuries and illnesses. Norris noted that everyone interested in the safety and health of workers need to work together to help those businesses understand the benefits that improving the managing of workplace risks not only results in safer and healthier workers, but contributes to their bottom line business success.

Safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals play a key role in helping businesses prevent work injuries and illnesses. The May 9, 2012, OSHP Day aims to recognize those SH&E professionals who work around the clock to make sure employees leave work injury and illness free to return home each night.

OSHA and its Alliance program participants work with ASSE and its members each year to sponsor events during NAOSH Week and on OSHP Day. Their efforts are supported by the 10th annual international ASSE ?Safety-on-the-Job? poster contest for children aged 5-14. 3-D Printer with Nano-Precision

ScienceDaily (Mar. 12, 2012) ? Printing three-dimensional objects with incredibly fine details is now possible using "two-photon lithography." With this technology, tiny structures on a nanometer scale can be fabricated. Researchers at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Vienna) have now made a major breakthrough in speeding up this printing technique: The high-precision-3D-printer at TU Vienna is orders of magnitude faster than similar devices. This opens up completely new areas of application, such as in medicine.

Setting a New World Record

The 3D printer uses a liquid resin, which is hardened at precisely the correct spots by a focused laser beam. The focal point of the laser beam is guided through the resin by movable mirrors and leaves behind a hardened line of solid polymer, just a few hundred nanometers wide. This fine resolution enables the creation of intricately structured sculptures as tiny as a grain of sand. "Until now, this technique used to be quite slow," says Professor J?rgen Stampfl from the Institute of Materials Science and Technology at the TU Vienna. "The printing speed used to be measured in millimeters per second -- our device can do five meters in one second." In two-photon lithography, this is a world record.

This amazing progress was made possible by combining several new ideas. "It was crucial to improve the steering mechanism of the mirrors," says Jan Torgersen (TU Vienna). The mirrors are continuously in motion during the printing process. The acceleration and deceleration-periods have to be tuned very precisely to achieve high-resolution results at a record-breaking speed.

Photoactive Molecules Harden the Resin

3D-printing is not all about mechanics -- chemists had a crucial role to play in this project too. "The resin contains molecules, which are activated by the laser light. They induce a chain reaction in other components of the resin, so-called monomers, and turn them into a solid," says Jan Torgersen. These initiator molecules are only activated if they absorb two photons of the laser beam at once -- and this only happens in the very center of the laser beam, where the intensity is highest. In contrast to conventional 3D-printing techniques, solid material can be created anywhere within the liquid resin rather than on top of the previously created layer only. Therefore, the working surface does not have to be specially prepared before the next layer can be produced, which saves a lot of time. A team of chemists led by Professor Robert Liska (TU Vienna) developed the suitable ingredients for this special resin.

Researchers all over the world are working on 3D printers today -- at universities as well as in industry. Because of the dramatically increased speed, much larger objects can now be created in a given period of time. This makes two-photon-lithography an interesting technique for industry.

At the TU Vienna, scientists are now developing bio-compatible resins for medical applications. They can be used to create scaffolds to which living cells can attach themselves facilitating the systematic creation of biological tissues. The 3d printer could also be used to create tailor made construction parts for biomedical technology or nanotechnology.
